Mare Austria Invests in Photovoltaics: A Major Milestone on Our ESG Roadmap

At Mare Austria, we are proud to announce the successful installation of a 175.75 kWp photovoltaic system covering 800 m² at our Niklasdorf production site  a significant step forward in our commitment to sustainability, innovation, and energy independence.

This new solar energy system is a tangible outcome of Mare Group’s ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) strategy, which guides our long-term approach to responsible business. The photovoltaic array is expected to generate clean energy that will reduce our CO₂ emissions by approximately 90 tons per year, significantly decreasing our environmental impact and supporting Austria’s transition to renewable energy.

Driving Sustainability Through Innovation

The new solar system helps us:

  • Increase the share of renewable energy in our operations
  • Strengthen local energy autonomy
  • Improve cost-efficiency in the long term
  • Contribute to national and European climate goals

By integrating renewable energy into our production processes, we are not only minimizing our environmental footprint, but also ensuring that our operations become more resilient, future-ready, and aligned with the expectations of customers and stakeholders.

A Group-Wide Commitment

This investment is part of a broader program across Mare Group’s European sites, with sustainability actions ranging from energy efficiency improvements to water and waste management initiatives. Our ESG roadmap is a living framework continuously evolving to meet the challenges of our times and the demands of our partners and communities.

Looking Ahead

The photovoltaic installation is already operational, and we are monitoring its performance through an integrated energy management system. With each panel installed, we move closer to our vision of a more responsible and sustainable chemical industry.

We believe that real change comes from action, and this project demonstrates how industrial innovation and environmental care can go hand in hand.

“This project reflects our belief that sustainability must be built into every part of the business not as a cost, but as an opportunity to create long-term value,” said [Giuliano Colucci ESG Mare Manager].
