The span of the detergent market stretches far and wide and covering a multitude of highly specialised markets be they the household cleaning market, fuel additives market or indeed as biological reagents.
Each sector has its own unique area of specialisation, however, there are some common themes amongst them.
Firstly, is the use of Polyacrylates which perform many functions including acting as a processing aid, a dispersing agent, co builders, anti-precipitation agents or scale control agents.
Located at Mare’s headquarters and largest production facility in Ossona near Milan, Italy, Mare produces a wide range of Maredis Polyacrylates. Over 50,000 tonnes of Polyacrylates are produced each year, many of which go into the detergent industry.
Secondly is the use of Carboxymethylcellulose (CMC). For example, in washing powders dirt micelles are adsorbed onto the CMC particles and then removed through the centrifugal force of the washing machine.
In Niklasdorf, Austria, Mare remains one of the few producers of CMC (Carboxymethylcellulose) in Europe. CMC is one of the most commonly used thickeners and binding agents used in industry today. Mare’s range of Niklacell CMC’s includes both purified and technical grades able to meet the toughest of technical specifications.
